“At Vitasa, I have translated my experience and vision for holistic, preventative healthcare into reality. We empower individuals to live longer, healthier lives. Our success is a testament to the this approach.”

What do you do professionally?

I'm the CEO of Vitasa, a healthcare startup focused on age management. We provide comprehensive strategies for customers to age into the best versions of themselves.

Prior to founding Vitasa, I was the Chief Medical Officer at International Community Health Services, where I led the charge to improve both the quality and cost-effectiveness of care. Seeing the impact of that work fueled my passion and led me to found Dynamiq Health Consulting, where I leverage that experience to help healthcare organizations develop and implement practical solutions to navigate the exciting and complex world of value-based care models.

Tell me about your path to get where you are today. How did you get into that type of work?

My journey in healthcare started with a deep desire to improve patient well-being. As a family physician, I saw the limitations of a reactive healthcare system. Patients often faced fragmented care, with a focus on treating illness rather than promoting overall health. This ignited a spark to make a broader impact. I am particularly passionate about how value-based care incentivizes preventative and holistic care models.

I founded Vitasa because I wanted to directly influence the future of healthcare. At Vitasa, we believe in empowering individuals to live longer, healthier lives. We go beyond just treating illnesses, creating personalized plans that address physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

As CEO, I wear many hats. From guiding strategic direction to ensuring cutting-edge treatments are accessible, I'm deeply involved in every facet of Vitasa's mission. Seeing the positive impact on our patients further solidified my belief in this model.

What is your professional superpower?

My superpower is transforming healthcare delivery through a combination of clinical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills. I can translate complex healthcare concepts into practical solutions that improve both patient outcomes and financial performance.

How has that superpower contributed to your professional success?

Witnessing the limitations of traditional healthcare models fueled my desire to make a broader impact. During my time at International Community Health Services, I championed innovative approaches that demonstrably improved patient care and financial performance, including streamlining care management systems. This reinforced the link between quality of care and financial health.

At Vitasa, I’m able to translate my vision for healthcare into reality via holistic age management that empowers individuals to live longer, healthier lives. Vitasa's success is a testament to the this approach.

If I were to ask your employees and partners what it’s like to work with you, what would they say?

They would describe me as patient-centered and passionate about achieving measurable improvements in healthcare delivery. High-quality patient care remains my top priority. Beyond that, they would say that I am collaborative, data-driven, and results-oriented.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

The transformation at International Community Health Services, where we became a state leader in both clinical quality and cost-of-care. This was the direct result of our commitment to physician-led, value-based care models. Seeing patients receive better care while keeping costs manageable was incredibly rewarding. It solidified my belief in the power of this approach to revolutionize healthcare.

Describe the business impact you’ve driven for your clients and/or organization.

At International Community Health Services, we weren't just treating patients, we were building a better healthcare system. We implemented innovative care management programs that not only improved patient outcomes, but significantly increased revenue. We created a system in which better care meant better business, which led to a dramatic increase in reimbursements from value-based care programs. Focusing on quality care delivered real value.

My work at Vitasa is another example of this philosophy in action. Our success isn't limited to the growth we’ve experienced; more importantly, we’ve impacted people's lives. Empowering individuals to take charge of their well-being is a story worth telling.

What person or organization do you most admire professionally and why?

On a personal level, I deeply admire Indra Nooyi. She and I have similar backgrounds and she's one of my role models. Her journey to become the CEO of PepsiCo is incredibly inspiring and demonstrates the power of perseverance and strategic leadership, especially for those who may face additional challenges.

In what ways are diverse perspectives good for business?

Diverse perspectives bring a wealth of ideas, experiences, and approaches to problem-solving. This fosters innovation, improves decision-making, and allows businesses to better understand and serve a wider range of customers.

Is there anything we didn’t ask that you wish we would have? Or anything else you’d like to add?

I'm a lifelong learner. The healthcare landscape is constantly evolving, and I'm never satisfied settling for the status quo. That's why I recently completed the Entrepreneurial Leadership Certification at the University of Washington. I wanted to equip myself with more knowledge so that I can keep pushing boundaries and make a real impact. I'm always looking for ways to innovate and create a better healthcare future.
