Jeremiah Ajayi

“I am known for being reliable and proactive. I once landed a job because I consistently delivered high-quality content as a guest contributor. They knew I could be counted on, but it wasn't just that: I took the initiative to engage with their community and offered fresh ideas.”

What do you do professionally?

I’m a Content Marketer at RemotePass, a G2 top-100 global SaaS company.

Tell me about your path to get where you are today. How did you get into that type of work?

Storytelling has always been a passion. As a kid and teenager, I dreamed of being a screenwriter and even considered being a lawyer on the side! Aaron Sorkin was a huge inspiration. However, facing the reality of how tough the screenwriting world is, I decided to focus on becoming a lawyer and put that dream aside.

During my freshman year at university, my love for writing resurfaced when a friend introduced me to freelance writing. That was six years ago, and that spark turned into a full-fledged content marketing career that I enjoy.

It wasn't exactly the path I envisioned at first, but it's a great fit for my love of words and storytelling.

What is your professional superpower?

My professional superpower is a combination of reliability and proactivity.  People can count on me to deliver what I promise (reliability), and I don't just meet expectations, I actively look for ways to exceed them (proactivity).

How has that superpower contributed to your professional success?

My reliability and proactivity have been game-changers in my career. For example, back in 2020, I landed a Content and Community Manager role because I consistently delivered high-quality content as a guest contributor. They saw my reliability and knew I could be counted on. But it wasn't just that – I also took the initiative to engage with their community and offered fresh ideas, which showcased my proactivity. This impressed them and ultimately helped me secure the position.

Similarly, during the interview process for my current role at RemotePass, I went above and beyond by conducting an audit of their existing content and sending recommendations beforehand. This demonstrated both my reliability and proactivity. It definitely grabbed the hiring managers' attention and played a part in me landing the job.

If I were to ask your manager or colleagues what it’s like to work with you, what would they say?

I think I’d just refer to what one of my previous colleagues, Tamilore Sonaike, once said about me in a LinkedIn testimonial, “I've worked with Jeremiah for months now, and he is such a brilliant writer and strategist! He is an out of box thinker, and skilled at coming up with unique strategies to grow any brand he's involved with. I'm a recipient of his smart thinking. We've had so many brainstorming sessions together, and I always come out on the other end with more refined ideas than before. Jeremiah also has great work ethics, and puts his all into his job.”

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

At Stears, I spearheaded an SEO strategy for their Elections platform, leading to incredible results. We achieved a massive 19 million search impressions, bringing 1.8 million users to the platform. Even more impressive, we saw a 97% increase in organic search traffic week-over-week. This was a huge win on two fronts. Not only did it demonstrate the tangible business impact of my SEO strategy, but it also empowered millions of Nigerians to participate in their civic duty by voting. This connection between SEO and voter turnout is what makes this achievement monumental.

Describe the business impact you’ve driven for your clients and/or organization.

Here are some highlights from my work with clients and previous employers:

  • Boosted brand awareness by 190% & social engagement by 29.9% through strategic social media campaigns.

  • Increased Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) by 283% with integrated content marketing strategies.

  • Secured $70K in deals through lead nurturing campaigns built in collaboration with Sales and Design.

  • Transformed expert interviews into captivating content, attracting over 100K site visitors.

  • Created high-quality content for blog and social media channels, boosting site traffic from 51k to 96k visitors.

  • Crafted highly targeted and engaging articles aimed at B2B SaaS founders and CMOs, leading to a significant 49% increase in monthly organic traffic and a $12k monthly retainer.

What person or organization do you most admire professionally and why?

I really respect Odun Eweniyi, co-founder of Piggyvest. She's not only built one of Africa's leading savings and investment platforms, but she also manages to maintain a healthy work-life balance. That's something I truly admire and aspire to achieve in my own career. I believe it's possible to be successful professionally while still having a fulfilling personal life.

What tips do you have for organizations to best set their people (employees) up for success?

I believe organizations should prioritize active listening to their employees and translate that listening into concrete action. Sure, surveys and perks like pizza parties are nice, but what employees truly value is tangible support. This could include things like:

  • Dedicated learning budgets: Equipping employees with the resources to develop their skills is a powerful investment.

  • Comprehensive travel coverage: For roles requiring travel, financial support can significantly ease the burden.

  • Robust health insurance plans (HMOs): Quality healthcare is essential, and companies should prioritize strong employee health plans.

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives: Creating a workplace that fosters inclusion and empowers all employees is crucial.
