For many business leaders, the idea that a legal advisor would take weight off their shoulders instead of adding to it is a novel one. The desire to do just that is what has driven Trove partner Kanika throughout her career, including stepping away from her role as a successful in-house corporate and transactional lawyer to start Cloudbreak Legal, where she provides right-sized legal services to organizations powered by good people. The opportunity to leverage her experience to help companies that share her personal values was well worth putting aside the stability of a corporate role to launch an entrepreneurial venture.

A desire to serve others and leave her mark on issues she’s passionate about drew Kanika to law school. Since then, she’s inched closer to her sweet spot: operating at the intersection of her passions, the subject matter she enjoys, and the work she excels at. After starting her career at leading international law firm Perkins Coie, Kanika embraced her first in-house role supporting Nintendo’s western hemisphere marketing and communications team before moving on to the petcare startup Rover. At Rover, she was instrumental in supporting stakeholders across the organization during the company’s highest growth period, growing the legal team leading up to its IPO, and building its privacy program from scratch in a manner that was both customer and compliance-forward. All of this occurred while the company was expanding internationally and grappling with a dramatically evolving regulatory environment. Armed with this experience, she moved to a new challenge at the leading fintech company Remitly where she ran its global privacy program before departing to start Cloudbreak Legal in 2023.

Kanika’s calling card is a fearless, unflappable mentality, paired with an unwavering commitment to serve as a true partner to the people and businesses she supports. Much of her success and impact comes from meeting people where they are, listening and engaging to identify an appropriately scoped solution that aligns with their risk profile.
